TECHNICAL EDUCATION QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME (TEQIP-III) (GOVERNMENT OF INDIA) A WORLD BANK FUNDED PROJECT
The Ministry of Human Resource Development launched in December, 2002 the"Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme of Government of India (TEQIP)" which aims to upscale and support ongoing efforts in improving quality of technical education and enhancing existing capacities of the institutions to become dynamic, demand-driven, quality conscious, efficient and forward looking, responsive to rapid economic and technological developments occurring both at national and international levels. The Programme was conceived and designed as a long term project to be implemented in 10-12 years in 3 phases to support excellence and transformation in Technical Education in the country. The Project, Third phase of Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (referred to as TEQIP-III), goals are better academic standards through accreditation, training faculty in better teaching methods, qualification up gradation, improved research outputs in institution. Also to incorporate better systems for assessment of student learning, through which to produce high quality engineers with better employability. The focus is to strengthen the UG/PG labs, so that students are ready to cater the needs of industry and increasing enrollment and starting new programmes. In addition, the project also supports to enhance the skills of technical and administrative staff. NIT Uttarakhand has selected to participate in Improving quality and equity in Engineering Institutions. To facilitate these goals, NIT Uttarakhand has been allocated Rs. 15 crores under this project in the span of three years (1st April 2017 to 31st March 2020).
