Mr. Abhishek Jain, had delivered an inspirational lecture on “Entrepreneurship Skills” at NIT Uttarakhand on October 20, 2019. He introduced the different aspects of entrepreneurship and emphasized that zeal and great idea are the only ingredients in a recipe for business startup. He mentioned the reason that people do not start their new ventures in a country like India is due to non-awareness amongst the population and decide to go for jobs in private or government sectors so as to minimize the risk. Therefore, he emphasized to raise the basic awareness of entrepreneurial concepts and to enable students to identify and learn how to make a mind-set to take up entrepreneurship as a challenging career. One of the important roles of an entrepreneur is that of a risk taker or bearer according to economic theory. It is perceived as a characteristic that differentiates entrepreneurs from the people who are not entrepreneurs. When it comes to the relationship between risks and entrepreneurs, it is not true that risk will always find entrepreneurs. Just because of the confidence of the entrepreneurs that they will succeed, they are able to give up job security and take specific risks. He also inspired the students to value the presence of parents as well gurus in their lives. He explained in detail about the various attributes of successful entrepreneurs such as drive, communication skills and technical skills. The lecture motivated the students to work hard and start a new venture through adequate forward planning and the execution of the plans. The session also included motivational videos that boosted up the students.

Our very own start-up team of homie market was also presented. They discussed their journey with the listeners and talked about the challenges they overcame. It motivated the audience a lot. They even discussed the problems that they were currently facing with the speaker Abhishek Jain and learned a lot from him. At the end speaker was felicitated by the team of E-cell NIT Uttarakhand.

Ishank Joshi is a third year student of National Institute Of Technology Uttarakhand and founder of the start-up “We Organico”. It is a budding start-up that aims at providing fresh vegetables and fruits door to door. It is currently running in Dehradun and aims at spreading in other parts of the country.

He delivered an inspirational lecture on “Entrepreneurship Skills” at NIT Uttarakhand on 22 February. The idea behind starting We Organico was to enable customers to access all organic stuff in one single place. He told that the factor that has contributed to the surge in the demand for organic products is development in e-commerce sector and retail value chains, which serves as a facilitator for the small startups to reach out to their potential consumers. In recent years, a handful number of these ecommerce websites have emerged as fully dedicated platforms to cater these products in the market. The organic sector in India offers numerous doors of opportunities that can be leveraged, hence turning out to be a perfect venture for the budding startups. The sector that is still at nascent stage is being seen as an extremely encouraging sector. Due to the increasing number of food adulteration cases and continuously rising income, the conscious consumers in India want to turn completely natural in their nourishment requirements, hence making organic products their preferred choice.
