Prof. A. Swarup received B.E. (1978) in Electrical Engineering from MN Regional Engg. College, Allahabad and M.Tech. (1980) with specialization in Control Systems from IT-BHU, Varanasi. He obtained his Ph.D. (1993) from IIT Delhi in the area of Robotic Control.
He has been serving at National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra since 1981. Presently he is working as Professor of Electrical Engineering. He had worked as Dean (Faculty Welfare), Dean (Research & Consultancy), Dean (Planning & Development), Head of Department of Electrical Engineering and Head of Department of Computer Engineering at NIT Kurukshetra. Also, he was Coordinator of TEQIP-I and TEQIP-II ( MHRD / World Bank Project ) at NIT Kurukshetra.
His areas of research interest are Robotic Control, Robust Control, Navigational Control and Signal Processing.
He has supervised 12 Ph.D. scholars with 65 Journal and about 85 Conference papers. He has completed 03 Sponsored Projects. He was Visiting Fellow of Dept. of Sci. & Tech. (DST) Govt. of India at Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) Bangalore in 1996. He had organized / conducted numerous Summer- Winter Schools and Short term courses for Continuing Education Development. He has been contributing as Reviewer to Various Journals / Conferences, as Expert to DRDO / UPSC etc., and as Member to Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi, External Member to Senate SLIET Longowal and other academic bodies. He has visited to several countries for Paper presentation / Academic interactions.
He is Member of IEEE since last 39 years and a Senior Member of IEEE since 1996. He has been Member of IEEE Control System Society from over 30 years. He is Counselor of IEEE Student Branch, NIT Kurukshetra and served as Chairman of IEEE Student Branch, IIT Delhi in 1990. He was Member of Technical Committee (Controls) of IEEE TENCON 1998. He was Member of Executive Committee of IEEE Delhi Section (2015). He is contributing as Reviewer / Author to IEEE / IFAC Journals / Conferences.
Also, he is Life Member of Systems Society of India (SSI) and Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).
