Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi, completed his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering, from IIT Roorkee in the year 2003 and M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1993. Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi started his academic career as a Lecturer position in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NIT Hamirpur in the year 1988 and rose as full Professor in 2004. He grew professionally in a span of 33 years, which is evident from the various designations administered by him. Due to his dedication and commitment he got elevated as an Administrator and earned the status of Director-cum-Principal of several Institutes in Himanchal Pradesh. All through his career, he has been distinguished by his unique working style and has been a key person who has contributed to the development of various new Institutions. He has been creating platforms for academicians and scientists to come together and share their ideas.
Prof. Awasthi has an iconic track record of quality teaching, research and administration. Before joining NIT Uttarakhand as the Director, Prof Awasthi served full five year term as Director, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar with additional charge of NIT, Delhi and NIT Hamirpur.
Prof. Awasthi has a keen Interest in quality assurance and outcome based teaching and research. As a Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in NIT Hamirpur from 2002-2008 he contributed through effective teaching at UG/PG levels. Best Faculty Award in 2007 shows his dedication and commitment towards teaching-learning.
His research interests include Mobile distributed systems, Fault tolerance, Sensor Networks, P2P networks, Network Security. Prof. Awasthi has handled 06 projects related to research development and consultancy. Prof. Awasthi has more than 225 research publications to his credit in International Journals and Conferences of repute. He has filed more than 14 patents and has three designs to his credit. One of the patents filed by him has been commercialized. An inspiring academician and mentor of Research, he is guiding 8 Scholars currently and produced 14 Doctorates. He has attended many National and International conferences both in the country and abroad. He has visited University of California Berkley, USA, Stanford University USA, University of Technology, Sydney, University of Florence Italy etc.
To comprehend, he is an asset to wherever he is placed with extraordinary skills of handling resources in any critical scenario. Prof. Awasthi's work is recognized with many awards and honors. He is a recipient of Director of the Year Award given by Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers, India in the year 2020.
